My Review Policy

I post a review of everything I read on Whimpulsive. Most of my books are either purchased by me (I buy both new and used books) or borrowed from the library. Occasionally I receive review copies of new or upcoming books to review at my discretion.

I enjoy being asked to read and review books, but as I sometimes receive several pitches in my email inbox within a few days of each other. I am not able to respond to all of them. If your request sounds like a book I would like to read I will usually respond within a week. If you do not hear from me regarding a specific request, please do not hesitate to contact me again regarding another book in the future. A different type of book may pique my interest.
I am a fairly eclectic reader and prefer to read general and literary fiction, mysteries, thrillers and some young adult books. I generally do not read fantasy, science-fiction, self-help, memoirs, romance or chick-lit.
I do not accept e-books, audiobooks or self-published books for review.
I typically need 2 to 3 months lead time to fit a book into my reading and blogging schedule. I usually read 2 average length books per week so if you need a book review posted within a specific time frame I need to know that.
I will write an honest review and post it here on Whimpulsive and also link to that review from my Goodreads account. When I receive a free copy of a book for review, I cannot guarantee a positive review, but I can guarantee to post my honest opinion and personal rating based on my established rating scale.
No stars – I couldn’t even finish it
1 star – I didn’t like it but I managed to finish it.
2 stars – It was OK. Not good, but seriously just OK.
3 stars - I liked it. I didn’t think it was great, but I thought it was good entertainment.
4 stars – I really liked it. I really think you might like it too.
5 stars – It was amazing. I’d recommend this to just about anyone.
