Series: #5 in the Teashop Mysteries Series
Genre: Cozy Mystery
Publication Date: 2004
Pages: 245
Challenges: What’s in a Name Challenge #4 (Plant), A-Z Reading #20 (J Title), TBR 2008 #6
This was as expected, a predictable, but still enjoyable entry in this cozy series. I love the Charleston, S.C setting and the information about tea and yummy recipes. The mysteries are somewhat predictable, but they’re short and pleasant reads.
Theodosia Browning, the owner of the Indigo Tea Shop in the historic district of Charleston, once again finds herself a witness to the death of a prominent local citizen in the middle of a public event. Pretty soon folks are going to stop iniviting Theo to things. This time around, the victim is her boyfriend’s uncle. Once again, detective Tidwell tells Theo to stay out of the investigation, yet keeps her informed all along the way. Not something I’d want a steady diet of, but for a pleasant diversion, this series is OK. Besides, this one worked out well for both the What’s in a Name Challenge and the A-Z reading challenge.

No stars – I couldn’t even finish it
1 star – I didn’t like it but I managed to finish it.
2 stars – It was OK. Not good, but seriously just OK.
3 stars - I liked it. I didn’t think it was great, but I thought it was good entertainment.
4 stars – I really liked it. I really think you might like it too.
5 stars – It was amazing. I’d recommend this to just about anyone.

Yep, predictably enjoyable. = )
If YOU say this series is "OK", then I probably shouldn't try it, huh? BUT...I like tea. :)
I can't wait to read what you have to say about A Great Deliverance. I've been wanting to read that forever.
Vickie: yup - and sometimes 'predictably enjoyable' is exactly what I want.
Joy: you'd hate it. The only possible cozy series I could even halfway say you might not hate is the China Bayles series. BTW - I'm already deeply hooked on The Great Deliverance and only about 40 pages into it so far.
Okay, I'll pass on this one. Thanks.
I'm actually looking forward to the China Bayles series. I have the first ready to go. And, I do really, really like Maisie Dobbs. :)
Oh yay! I'm so glad to hear about TGD! (and only with 40 pages!)
I've got the 1st book in this series on one of my challenge lists...hope it's good!
Samantha: If you like the occasional somewhat predictable but pleasant cozy mystery, you'll enjoy it.
Funny how a predictable mystery can still be fun if it's written well enough.
Pretty soon folks are going to stop iniviting Theo to things.
I always had a similar thought when mom & I watched 'Murder She Wrote' as I was growing up. I wanted to know why folks didn't run in the other direction every time they saw Jessica Fletcher coming. Or why they didn't eventually realize that SHE was the ultimate serial killer, brilliantly setting up scapegoats everywhere she went!
I've only read thei first one of the series and agree: it's a light and pleasant read. Sometimes, that's just what I need.
Heather: Yup - never have dinner with Jessica Fletcher!!
Framed: sometimes light, somewhat predictable and enjoyable is just what I need for a few days.
