The Sisterhood by Michael Palmer

Genre: Medical Mystery
Publication Date: 1982
Pages: 343
Challenges:
Eponymous Challenge #4

Patients are dying at Boston Doctor’s Hospital when they shouldn’t be. Dr. David Shelton who is still dealing with his own demons from the past, finds himself accused of murder. This is one of those books where you know who at least some of the bad guys are. When the hero starts trusting them, it’s like wanting to scream “Look out” at the movie screen. I need to thank all my fellow bloggers who recommended Michael Palmer during last year’s Medical Mystery challenge. I didn’t have any of his books on my list for that challenge, but was convinced to add him to my TBR list.

This is his first book and I was impressed, considering it was published 26 years ago. A lot of medical mysteries don’t hold up over time due to ever changing technology and treatments. This was a suspense thriller that despite giving the reader part of the answer ahead of time, kept enough hidden until the end to keep me turning the pages.

I’ll definitely read more of Michael Palmer’s books.

I read my first Michael Palmer last summer and really liked it. This one looks like a good follow-up.

I've read about 6 or 7 of Palmer's books and have enjoyed them all. My first was Extreme Measures (1991 and his 4th book) and remember (I did not keep records of books read then) it being excellent. Since then I have gone back and read several of his older ones, but not too many of his newer. I read this one and know I liked it. Glad you did too and hope you enjoy the rest!

The person that did the Medical Challenge last year commented on my blog, so I asked her about doing it again and she never responded back. ???

Framed: I was concerned about it being dated since it was published in 1982, but I still enjoyed it.

Joy: I remember you were one of the folks who liked Palmer. I hope the Medical Challenge comes up again this year - it was a fun one.

It's been ahile since I've read one of Palmer's book. Sounds good about now. I'm always in the mood for a good mystery. Maybe someone will do a Medical Mystery Challenge again this year so I can get some reading done in the area.

Alison - I like hearing folks still enjoying an author I'm just getting started with.

Booklogged: I'm hoping for a 2008 version of the Medical Mystery Challenge too. I love all kinds of mysteries and have just recently started reading Gerritsen, Stephen White, and Kathy Reichs in addition to Michael Palmer.

Thanks for reading. Feel free to leave a comment. I read and respond them here although not always right away. If you would prefer an email response let me know.
