Southern Reading Challenge 2008
>> Wednesday, May 7, 2008
This is another challenge that I’ve been hoping would I would see again. Maggie is hosting the Southern Reading Challenge again and I’m using it to get to a couple of books that have been on my TBR list for a while and one fairly recent addition that comes very highly recommended.
The rules are easy:This is what I’ll be reading for this year’s challenge:
3 Southern Setting Books by Southern Authors in 3 Months beginning May 15 through August 15!
- Pawley’s Island by Dorothea Benton Frank because her novels are nice light summer brain candy
- The Well and the Mine by Gin Phillips because Eleanor said I had to so I know it’ll be good.
- Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer: A Road Trip Into the Heart of Fan Mania by Warren St. John because it’s halfway between the end of last year’s football season and the opening kickoff and I need a football related fix.

No stars – I couldn’t even finish it
1 star – I didn’t like it but I managed to finish it.
2 stars – It was OK. Not good, but seriously just OK.
3 stars - I liked it. I didn’t think it was great, but I thought it was good entertainment.
4 stars – I really liked it. I really think you might like it too.
5 stars – It was amazing. I’d recommend this to just about anyone.

I haven't even heard of your choices, so I can't wait to read your reviews. :)
Ha, you cain't go a couple of months without football! :D Go Bama!
LOVED Rammer Jammer (even if I AM an LSU fan!)
"...it’s halfway between the end of last year’s football season and the opening kickoff and I need a football related fix."
I like how you think!
Eileen, football fanatic
Eva: I admit that Rammer Jammer is a bit obscure.
Maggie: Ah - those football-less months of the year are just so desolate.
Karen: I figured it would be good to read for this.
Eileen: Yay - someone who understands!!
I've heard of Pawley's Island, I can figure out the last title, but I need to check the link of The Well and the MIne. Have fun!
Mary - do check out Eleanor's review of The Well and the Mine - it sounds really good.
Suzi, I checked Eleanor's review. I'm adding the book to my TBR list. I noticed she posted the review in March. Is she a sporadic blogger? I'll bookmark it and check back. She's a good writer!
Mary: El doesn't post real regularly on her book blog, but when she does, I pay attention. Her recommendations usually go straight to my TBR list!
