2nds Challenge 2008

>> Tuesday, August 12, 2008

Watching the Olympics is seriously cutting into my reading time so I'll take the chance to post about another challenge I'll be joining.

This was one of my favorite challenges last year, so I was happy to see Joy hosting this again for 2008.

WHO: Anybody
WHAT: Read 4 books by authors that you have only read one other
WHERE: "Thoughts of Joy..."
WHEN: September, October, November and December, 2008
WHY: Because we love to read...why else?

I do this all the time – read a book by a new to me author, put the rest of that author’s books on my TBR list and then for hundreds of varying reasons don’t get around to reading more by that author for months and sometimes years. When scanning my TBR list for books for this challenge I found the same thing as last year – it took me all of about 3 minutes to find plenty of authors with book #1 marked as read and book #2 as not read.

So here’s what I’m planning to read for this year’s challenge
Death du Jour by Kathy Reichs
The Solace of Leaving Early by Haven Kimmel
The Treatment by Mo Hayder
Payment in Blood by Elizabeth George

Great list! I've read 3 of the 4 and I'm so excited your reading The Treatment. There are parts that are very difficult to read (topic wise) but wow, it is a stunner of a book. Hope you enjoy all your books!

Welcome back to the 2nds Challenge, Suzi! I really like this challenge, also.

Three of your choices could be on my Challenge list. I still need to read the first George book (planned for 2009). The Treatment is on my nightstand now, but I don't think I'll get to it for the challenge. I look forward to your thoughts. :)

Someday I've got to read another Elizabeth George book. I think it's been at least a decade, but I remember her writing is awesome.

Joanna: this is an easy challenge for me to join - all the books are already on my TBR list :-)

Nicola: I'm not surprised to hear that about The Treatment - the first one was in that 'freakily creepy, but so good' category too.

Joy: Somehow I'm not surprised that you and I could come up with similar lists for this one.

Bookfool: I cannot believe it took me so long to read Elizabeth George's first one. I was glad to have this challenge to nudge me into not waiting too long for the second one.
