Series: #5 in the Harry Potter Series
Genre: Fiction
Publication Date: 2003
Pages: 870
Challenges: Initials Challenge #4
Yes, I’m just now reading this one. I’ve pretty much stuck with a read the book then see the movie before reading the next book approach to this series. For some reason or another I let this one idle on the TBR list for a long time. That didn’t reduce my enjoyment of the book and the series at all.
I’m not going to bother with any plot information because you’ve either already read it, don’t want spoilers, or don’t care about the series.
I’ll just say that once again I thoroughly enjoyed the world Rowling has created and love the fact that as Harry and his classmates age, the story gains complexity. I’ll definitely not wait so long to see this movie, then read the next in the series. I heard last week that the release of the movie has been delayed, so the timing should work out well for me.

No stars – I couldn’t even finish it
1 star – I didn’t like it but I managed to finish it.
2 stars – It was OK. Not good, but seriously just OK.
3 stars - I liked it. I didn’t think it was great, but I thought it was good entertainment.
4 stars – I really liked it. I really think you might like it too.
5 stars – It was amazing. I’d recommend this to just about anyone.

I've only read the first 3 and part of #4. I have all the others and will get to them someday.
I read the movie was pushed until June or July of next year. waaa!
Not happy about that at all.
I think this is my favorite HP book even though I was heartbroken at the end of it. I hope you enjoy the movie! I'm really disappointed that #6 isn't being released until next summer!!
Les: I've read the first one twice, but the rest have only been read one time not anywhere close to each other. I'm tentatively planning on re-reading the entire series at some point (maybe just before I see the last movie?).
Kris: I usually don't get to the movies till they're out on DVD, but would really like to get back to seeing them in the theater. July next year is OK with me because I haven't read the book for that one yet.
Trish: this one really took a jump in the complexity. I also liked how Harry got to show his anger and his teenageboyness. Professor Umbridge was a wonderful villain.
I do love this series, even though I shy away from the hyped up books as a rule. I have actually only listened to them, though I own them in hardback. I love Jim Dale's voice.
Vickie - I haven't listened to any of them, but I'd like to. I've listened to Jim Dale read the Peter and the Starcatchers books and he's awesome.
I'm on the 5th book in this series but haven't gotten to it yet. I'm hoping to read it really soon as I've loved the series so far!
Despite many opinions to the contrary, this is possibly my favorite book in the series. I love the creepy house, Sirius's character, and so much of the story in this one. Glad you finally got around to reading it. :)
Samantha: I really love the series too. I plan to reread all before I see the final movie (whenever that comes out).
Heather: every one is better than the previous so far for me.
