Series: #4 in the Women’s Murder Club series
Genre: Mystery
Publication Date: 2005
Pages: 416
Challenges: TBR 2009 Challenge #8
I like this series for when I need some quick reading brain candy. In this 4th book of the series, the focus is primarily on Lindsay Boxer with the other regulars showing up only briefly.
Police Lieutenant Lindsay Boxer finds herself on the wrong side of a lawsuit that threatens both her reputation and career. In order to get away from the press she spends some time at her sister’s house in Half Moon Bay, California. Things aren’t exactly quiet and restful in the beachside community. Soon Lindsay finds herself involved in the investigation of a series of brutal murders that may have a connection with a cold case of her own from many years ago.
Short chapters, quick pace, and lots of action. That’s what I expect from Patterson’s books and this one delivered.

2 stars – It was OK. Not good, but seriously just OK.
3 stars - I liked it. I didn’t think it was great, but I thought it was good entertainment.
4 stars – I really liked it. I really think you might like it too.
5 stars – It was amazing. I’d recommend this to just about anyone.

I read his books for the exact same reason! I read this book earlier this year. :)
Kailana: I think books like this definitely have a place in the rotation.
I have this series on my want-to-read list. I agree that mysteries have a place. I love them.
I really liked the first three books in the series, but I'm finding the new co-writer's writing not quite up to snuff. I still read away, though..sigh. :) I liked the TV show, too! Short lived though it was!
Booklogged: this kind of brain candy mystery is what I crave when I want to let the previous book linger a bit in my mind.
Amy: this one did have a different feel to it, but I kind of saw that as due to the fact that so much of it was out of the normal environment for Lindsay. I'm curious to see what #5 is like. I never watched the TV show, but heard it was pretty good.
I just finished reading 1st to Die and 2nd Chance in March and I LOVED them. So did my mom. We are going to go get 3rd Degree and 4th of July from the library this week! James Patterson is one of my favorite authors.
Rebecca: good to hear you're liking the series too. Enjoy!
