2009 TBR Challenge Completed
>> Tuesday, October 20, 2009
This was my third year in a row of doing this challenge. This year I went into the 2009 TBR Challenge with some specific goals in mind.
These were the rules:
These were the rules:
* the challenge is to read 12 TBR books in 12 months -- you can read those all in one month if you want, or one a month, or however you wanna do it.
* you need to have a list posted somewhere for others to see
* you CANNOT change your list after January 1st, 2009!!!
* you can create an Alternates list of MAXIMUM 12 books, if you want, in order to have options to choose from (you can read these in place of books on your original list).
* audiobooks and e-books ARE allowed
* re-reads are NOT allowed, as they aren't TRUE "TBRs"
* you CAN overlap with other challenges
I decided several months ahead of time that for the 2009 version of this challenge I was only going to list books that are ‘the next book’ in the many many series that I’m in the process of reading. So all 24 of the books that I listed were part of some series I’ve started but not completed or caught up to the current release.
I’m listed 12 primary and 12 alternates. My not so secret plan was to read all 24 and I’ve now officially completed that. The lists are here with links to my reviews.

No stars – I couldn’t even finish it
1 star – I didn’t like it but I managed to finish it.
2 stars – It was OK. Not good, but seriously just OK.
3 stars - I liked it. I didn’t think it was great, but I thought it was good entertainment.
4 stars – I really liked it. I really think you might like it too.
5 stars – It was amazing. I’d recommend this to just about anyone.

Congrats on finishing! I also planned to read all 24, but I don't think that will happen. I hit 12 this month...don't think I'll get the next 12 read in two months. It's awesome that you were able to read all 24!
Way to go. This is one challenge I should hae joined. Maybe in 2010
Yes, way to to! I think I've quite neglected this challenge this year, which is very sad. I need to regroup and see if I can still finish.
Kris: thanks - I read a whole bunch of them early on because I was able to overlap them with other challenges. Then I hit a slump mid year and got busy finishing up in the last couple of months.
Framed: It's a good challenge. I've enjoyed it. I might do the same 'continue with my series' plan if I join again next year. It's good incentive to read those.
Suey: Thanks! So what if you've neglected it - challenges aren't graded (thank goodness!!)
Congrats on finishing!
Congrats on completing the challenge :)
I wish I could use lists like this! Congrats to you!
Way to go, SuziQ. So many are those are series that I'm reading, too. I hope Jenn will do this challenge again for 2010. I'm also wondering if anyone is still doing the 1st Challenge that Joy used to do.
TeddyRose and DesertRose: thanks - I was happy to successfully wrap this one up.
Kailana: I'm bad in the other direction - once I post the challenge list I have a hard time letting it go. That's why I do far fewer challenges now. Tying this one to continuing my series was a good move.
Booklogged: I don't think I've seen anything about a 1st challenge. I'm considering doing the continue the series stuff if the TBR Challenge is around next year.
Wow! Good job!
As you know, I love the Julia Spencer-Fleming series. I think I will get all caught up with that one soon, maybe by the end of the year.
I gave up on the Winspear series after the first book. It bugged me.
I will come back here for inspiration when I look for a new series.
