Baby Afghan for a Friend's Granddaughter
>> Thursday, October 29, 2009
I finished this the other day but couldn't post a picture till it had been delivered. I've done this pattern before, but never in solid yellow. I'm very happy with how it turned out.
Crochet
Yarn - Lion Brand Baby Soft
Color - Pastel Yellow

No stars – I couldn’t even finish it
1 star – I didn’t like it but I managed to finish it.
2 stars – It was OK. Not good, but seriously just OK.
3 stars - I liked it. I didn’t think it was great, but I thought it was good entertainment.
4 stars – I really liked it. I really think you might like it too.
5 stars – It was amazing. I’d recommend this to just about anyone.

It's gorgeous. I can't tell, but it looks like it's knitted. Was it difficult? I love to knit (and especially baby things.)
Love the color, so soft and pretty. I have the same questions as Julie P. : )
Julie and Mary: It's crocheted. It's a pretty easy pattern. I've done several from this pattern. It's an old one I've had for years. If you're interested, email me (it's in my profile) and I can send you the pattern.
I need to learn how to crochet first, lol. Just got back into knitting after a 30 year break.
I love this! But I loved the other one you made, too. :) I'm a knitter and just can't get the hang of crocheting. Every time I've tried, it's just not a pretty sight. Blah. Even so, I'd love the pattern, if you don't mind.
As the very lucky granny-to-be (both in terms of my choice of talented, thoughtful friend and my son's apparent fertility), I wish that y'all could FEEL this and see it close up. I know zero about the art of crochet, but you don't have to know art to get that Da Vinci was special.
It is just magnificent, and this will be what keeps Rosemary warm at my house all winter. ;-0
I really love the color and the pattern. Lucky baby to have such a gorgeous gift.
So pretty! :)
Mary: I crochet most of the time. I can knit simple stuff, but I'm much faster at crocheting.
Joy: thank you! I'll have to scan the pattern, but I'll get it sent to you.
El: Aww - you're so sweet. I just hope it keeps Rosemary nice and snuggly.
Diane and Eva: thank you!
That's beautiful!! I wish I still crocheted. It's been decades since I picked up a little metal hook and some yarn.
I love to crochet but my creations never turn out this beautiful.
Absolutely gorgeous! I love yellow. :)

It's a wonderful blanket! I wish I could do stuff like this, but I can never seem to develop the skill!
What a sweet gift! Fun that you had to keep it under wraps because the grandma-to-be reads your blog.
It absolutely beautiful...I'm sure it will be cherished. It is so fun to make these kinds of gifts, isn't it?
Beautiful!!! My mom made a similar blanket for my daughter before she was born. The yellow is so pretty & cheerful.
It's beautiful and looks very cuddly. I'm sure it will be cherished!
AWE! Congratulations, Eleanor! Please keep us posted.
Joy - I haven't forgotten, I hope to get the pattern scanned and on it's way to you tonight.
Bookfool: I do most of my crocheting while watching football or other TV. Also - road trips.
Framed: I doubt that.
Anna: thank you. I started it in yellow because at the time we didn't know Rosemary was going to be a Rosemary. It's a great color when you don't know whether it's going to be a boy or a girl.
Kailana: it's really not hard, just takes practice. I started when I came home for Christmas my first year of college. I was bored and wanted an afghan for my dorm room.
Dawn: Yeah - couldn't post the picture till Granny Eleanor opened the package ;-)
Wendy: Thank you. It is fun.
Les: thanks - I like yellow for babies.
TeddyRose: thanks so much.
