Weekend Update August 5, 2012

Since my last update:
I started reading The Prophet by Michael Koryta. I’m enjoying it a lot. I like the little touch of high school football in the story. I’m only about a third of the way through it but so far it’s very good.
I read the second in the Unwritten series. These are graphic novels with a very interesting story full of literary references. I already had the third book out from the library and have picked up the 4th this week. It's definitely not a graphic novel series for kids but fun for a booklover.
I finished my audiobook. I enjoyed Let’s Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir by Jenny Lawson (The Bloggess) a lot. I started Guardian of the Horizon by Elizabeth Peters. It was time for me to get back to the Amelia Peabody series read by Barbara Rosenblat. It’s not the next in publication order but it is the next in the chronological order of the ongoing story lines.
Other than books and reading:
It’s been a pretty quiet week around here. I’ve been getting sucked into the Olympics coverage. We watched quite a bit of the track cycling competition. Being able to plug in one of the computers to our TV and watch the online coverage that way has been nice. Now that the track and field competition has started we’ve got quite a few athletes with local connections to watch.
Yesterday was a hot one around here but luckily my company picnic was at a park with plenty of big trees for shade.
Columbia Park is one of the prettiest in Portland as far as I’m concerned.
Our neighborhood pond has been busy since the weather warmed up.
I think the neighborhood kids keep the ducks well fed.
Speaking of well fed . . . care to take any guesses about who is not supposed to be on the couch?
Hope you’re having a great weekend.

No stars – I couldn’t even finish it
1 star – I didn’t like it but I managed to finish it.

3 stars - I liked it. I didn’t think it was great, but I thought it was good entertainment.
4 stars – I really liked it. I really think you might like it too.
5 stars – It was amazing. I’d recommend this to just about anyone.

It's amazing how much of a time suck the Olympics are, isn't it? I love watching the athletes but I can't wait to get back to my quieter evenings and earlier bedtimes!
We are hooked on the Olympics too, but like Michelle, I'm kind of missing my regular shows and some reading time.
What a gorgeous-looking park. Love those tall trees!
haha. You are like me. I take a picture of Casey doing something bad and THEN move her... No wonder she does it...
