Book Blogger Appreciation Week – It’s all about appreciation today
>> Monday, September 10, 2012
Today’s topic for Book Blogger Appreciation week is to talk about some of the blogs you enjoy reading daily and why
This is a difficult assignment because it’s not possible to list every blogger I appreciate. No matter who or how many I talk about there will be major omissions.
Booklogged at A Reader’s Journal
She will always hold a special place in my blogging heart because she was the first person I didn’t already know who commented on my blog in the first few days. It was through her that I learned that book blogging was a ‘thing’. I’d had no idea. It was exploring her commenters and blogroll that led me to my first exploration of other book blogs. She really opened the door of the world of book blogging to me and I will always be grateful for that.
Joy at Thoughts of Joy
Joy and I had already known each other for a few years from a booklovers message board in an online community. She and I started our blogs within a few days of each other so that pre-existing connection continued into our blogging lives. Joy and I don’t always agree regarding books but we have plenty of common ground. The thing I most appreciate about Joy is her concise straightforward way of reviewing books. If you want quick, to the point opinions about books you can’t find a better blog that hers.
Jen at Jen’s Book Thoughts
Jen is my go to person for everything crime fiction. Her blog is fun and interesting. There are many things I appreciate about Jen but first and foremost is her ability to feed my TBR with fabulous crime fiction titles. She has never steered me wrong and a recommendation from Jen is one I’ll take seriously. Secondly Jen has actually been able to get me to read interview posts. Here’s where I confess that I will almost always skip any author interview post as I’m reading through blogs. Jen’s interviews are the exception. Her Five on Fridays are always a treat.
Bookfool at Bookfoolery and Babble
Bookfool is another blogger I first encountered in my very early days of blogging. I wish I could be half the photographer she is. Her blog is one I never miss. Her cats Fiona and Isabel are a hoot and make me laugh as much as our cats do. Bookfool posts about a wide variety of books and has led me to many interesting reads over the years.
Les at Prairie Horizons
Les is another of those first bloggers I got to know in my early blogging days. We’ve had some close calls with actually meeting face to face but is hasn’t worked out yet. One of these days we’ll actually pull it off. In the meantime I always enjoy reading her thoughtful book reviews, admiring her beautiful photos and dreaming of being able to cook like she does.
As I mentioned above it’s impossible to make an exhaustive list of all the book bloggers I read regularly and appreciate. I’ll leave you with this list of bloggers I both read and chat with on Twitter. It’s an impressive group of booklovers and fun people to know. You can’t go wrong with reading or following any of these wonderful people.
- Beth F. at Beth Fish Reads
- Chris at Chrisbookarama
- Jen at Devourer of Books
- Andi at Estellas’ Revenge
- Jenn at Jenn’s Bookshelves
- Jennifer at Literate Housewife
- Trish at Love, Laughter and a Touch of Insanity

Amy at My Friend Amy
Just a reminder – this list isn’t everyone but it is the people I chat with most on Twitter about books, life and everything.
Check out posts from other Book Blogger Appreciation Week participants at the main BBAW site.

No stars – I couldn’t even finish it
1 star – I didn’t like it but I managed to finish it.
2 stars – It was OK. Not good, but seriously just OK.
3 stars - I liked it. I didn’t think it was great, but I thought it was good entertainment.
4 stars – I really liked it. I really think you might like it too.
5 stars – It was amazing. I’d recommend this to just about anyone.

Yes three cheers to my friend Amy (and she really is a friend :) ). Thanks so much for the shout-out! I'm a fan of all the blogs/tweeters you mention.
Great list! I'm glad I have today off from work, but I'm not getting much done; there are so many new blogs and old favorites that I've forgotten about getting mentioned!
It is good to find some great blogs via BBAW! I am going to check out a few of those!
Here is my BBAW: Appreciation post.
Thanks for the shout-out! And I agree Amy needs lots of love for keeping BBAW going.
You have a wunderful list of bloggers! I adore the name of your blog too.
I have had the best time today discovering so many new blogs.
I am so glad I joined BBAW, even if it was at the last moment.
BBAW Day 1
Thanks for the fantastic lists of bloggers!
Thank you so much for including me in such an amazing list of bloggers. I am honored. And I LOVE that you honored Amy. She deserves so much for keeping us all together!
Thank you for the mention, Suzi! I enjoy our conversations too. :-) I hope you have a wonderful week.
Thanks for the mention! I do value our Twitter conversations!
I should have mentioned Amy of My Friend Amy! She's done a fabulous job with BBAW.
Aw, thanks, you're too kind. Izzy and Fi waved hello to Abby and Howie from my blog comments. They are both in the window, looking tense like there's something *important* out there and it's MOVING.
Thanks so much for the mention on your Twitter list--I am honored to be in such great company! And I second your shout-out to Amy, without whom we wouldn't even have this festival of appreciation :-D..
I didn't get my act together to post my list on Monday, but you would have certainly been on it. I think I've known you (and Nancy, Joy, Bellezza, Nat, Wendy and Andi) for as long as I've been blogging. Every year I meet new friends (like Trish) and for that I'm grateful for Blogger Appreciation Day. Thanks for the shout-out and thanks for your wonderful friendship. Yes. We will meet one day, I'm sure of it!
I have a silly confession. I just clicked over to Booklogged's blog (one that I've known about for years but lost track of) and always wondered what fromatoz was. :) I just got it.
Anyway, wonderful list and I so wish that I'd known Miss Les for as long as we've both been around. Just love her and there's a rare day that goes by when I forget to wish that she was on twitter to chat with us. Same with Joy who is one of the very very first bloggers I connected with and one who I've always looked up to as a type of mentor.
I've loved getting to know you more with our chats on twitter Miss SuziQ! :)
Beth F: Yay- it's a great group!
Laurie: I am so behind in catching up on BBAW Posts. I have a feeling I'll still be reading then next week.
Guatami Tripathy: So nice to see you pop in here!
Chris: You are part of my daily book chat life there's no way I could not include you.
Books and Beyond: Thanks!
Shan: you can't go wrong with this group!
Michelle: Yup - Amy is one of the best things to happen to book blogging!
Literary Feline: Thanks - you too!
Jenn: happy to include you - love chatting with you
Bookfool: Awww . . . love your cats (and you too!)
Florinda: I value our twitter book chats!
Les: I'm so glad you and Trish connected! I love it when two of my favorite bloggers get to know each other.
Trish: LOL that's hilarious! I love hat you know so many of my longtime blogger friends and that you and Les connected too!
Trish wrote, "Anyway, wonderful list and I so wish that I'd known Miss Les for as long as we've both been around. Just love her and there's a rare day that goes by when I forget to wish that she was on twitter to chat with us."
Awww, you almost had me jumping over to sign up on Twitter! But I can hardly keep up with blogging, commenting, email and Facebook. There's almost no time to read, let alone get sucked into the Twitter vortex. ;)
This was such a wonderful link-love surprise! Thank you so much for your kind words. I, too, love your list of book bloggers.
I'm with Les on the Twitter topic. I'm struggling with keeping up on blog comments these days. I had a Twitter account and browsed around for maybe a week (originally had to sign up for something) and just couldn't fathom trying to squeeze that into my life. I'd love to participate in the book chatter, but . . .
Keep posting! I'll be reading! It's great to see all the connections that are being made in the blogosphere. :)
Les: I understand the time issue - but if you ever decide to join in on the discussons on Twitter - look me up!
Joy: Yeah - totally get that we all have to set limits. I enjoy talking books on Twitter but it can be a time suck.
